On 29 April, a dream came true, as the construction of the crown of Alsóörs, a new wooden lookout tower that in all aspects had outgrown its predecessor was completed.
The Somlyó Hill Lookout Tower, reconstructed from its foundation, stands out high from among the trees. A viewpoint structure had been standing here for decades, but the wooden tower could not defy the ravages of time any longer, it became a threat to life, and therefore in 2013 it had to be closed. This tourist destination was popular among the inhabitants in Alsóörs, as it also served as a location of community events, and the residents missed the superb panoramic view showing all the beauty of the Bakony Mountains and Lake Balaton. Thus, it can be claimed that a long-standing need has been satisfied with the construction of the lookout tower. The top of the viewpoint can be reached comfortably, while the panorama offers a superb experience. It is a good program for families and hikers alike. The implementer and pre-financier of the project was the Municipality of Alsóörs.

The lookout tower plays an important role in the life of Pelso Camping Ltd, too, because Pelso Camping (Camping Europa by its current name) in Alsóörs is planned to be developed in close cooperation with the Municipality, by moving ahead towards common goals and preserving the values of the camping site while increasing the number of guests at the hotel and events, to which the new lookout tower will hopefully contribute, as well.
The development plans of Pelso Camping Ltd include the development of the beach, apartment, and harbour selection in addition to the camping site. Our long-term plans also involve the development of the festival center of the camping site, which is to be implemented in alignment with the event calendar of the Municipality. This way, we would like to organize even overnight festivals that live up to the cultural demands of the camping facility and the residents of Alsóörs.
Our plans cover the establishment and extension of free lot and mobile home capacities that used to be available at the camping site, including the addition of new holiday homes to the existing 4 units to eventually offer 10–20 homes, as well as the relocation and extension of the existing 62 mobile homes to 120 mobile homes, the use of the 310 available lots where mobile homes, caravans or tents can be set up.
Our further plans:
- The construction of retail pavilions (wine festival) and other points of sale,
- wakeboard track on the open water surface,
- the development of thermal water services,
- outdoor cinema,
- development of an adventure park,
- the organization of children’s camps and sporting events,
- providing services for sportspeople and anglers.
